Porsche like many automobile manufacturers have an enormous following of dedicated and loyal customers, their ‘core product’ considered by many to be the legendary 911, a model that has undeniably iconic motoring status.
More recently we have seen the company expand their product offering into SUV sector with the Cayenne and lately the smaller Macan which now together, according to some sources, potentially represent half the corporation’s output. Not known for letting the grass grow under their feet, Porsche also offers electric/petrol hybrid in some of their model lines, namely the Cayenne, Panamera and the extreme 918 ‘hyper car’ with more almost certainly to follow – exciting times!

They have developed aircraft engines.

They have won the Le Mans constructor’s Trophy 16 times – in itself a record.
Founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, they started life offering vehicle development work and consulting before moving into actual manufacturing.
One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the people, that is a ‘Volkswagen’. This resulted in the Volkswagen Beetle, deemed one of the most successful car designs of all time.
They are currently owned by the Volkswagen AG who are majority-owned by Porsche Automobile Holding SE
