Founded by Stuart Freestone in 1984, Freestone Creative started life in a room above a butcher’s shop in Towcester. It was busy from day one with Stuart working closely with typesetting company Tangram, putting in long hours and calling in help from freelance friends.
In 1985 the firm (known then as Freestone Design) moved to Linford Forum in Milton Keynes, initially sharing space with Tangram. The business continued to grow and started employing people, as well as using freelance help.
By the late 1980s Freestone was 10-strong and had a client list including Mercedes-Benz, Laing Homes and Abbey National (now Santander).
We soon grew out of these premises and purchased a derelict water pumping station in a lovely location in Stony Stratford. With the renovation project complete we moved in during April 1991 and had a dedicated studio and separate client facing teams to better service our clients, which now included Aston Martin.
With two 2,500 sq ft extensions added to our building in 1995 and 2000 we now occupy an area of 7,500 sq ft. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary we have a team of 20 with combined experience of 250 years. Our team has never been as strong and well placed to service our clients professionally, confidently and efficiently – and our client retention record is a testament to our customer satisfaction ethics.
Moving forward digital marketing and more accurately targeted, personalised communications are high on the agenda – although we still have a high demand for printed brochures, especially in luxury markets. Thirty years on and it’s a very different industry, but whatever the media we’re confident we have it covered.
